  • At-Tawba 9:36✦ exploreread

Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him].

  • Al-Baqara 2:201✦ exploreread

But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

What the text says

A family of widely circulated tallies reports striking alignments in the Quran's vocabulary: day at 365 and month at 12 (and 9:36 states in plain text that the months are twelve); sea and land in Earth's 71:29 proportion; sun at 33 and moon at 27; man and woman at 24 each; life and death at 145 each; angels and devils at 88 each; righteousness and corruption at 50 each; prostration at 34, the count of daily obligatory prostrations.

02 · reception

What classical readers understood

Classical scholars counted the Quran's letters, words and verses with devotion, but built no doctrine on tallies; the circulated alignments are a modern genre of observation upon the text.

03 · observation

What science sees

Every such tally depends on counting rules: which grammatical forms, prefixes, suffixes, plurals and derivations are included. Change the rule and the number moves: which is why this page hands you the counter. Some circulated figures replicate under reasonable rules; others require very particular form-lists. Enjoyed with open eyes, the balanced pairs remain a beautiful property of the book's fabric: pattern for reflection, never proof.
