Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example - that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it. And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, "What did Allah intend by this as an example?" He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient,

The text: Allah is not shy to present an example, a mosquito or what is above it (or smaller).
What classical readers understood
The verse answers mockers who thought small examples beneath revelation: smallness is no bar to significance.
What science sees
The mosquito tracks you by carbon dioxide plumes, body heat, and skin odors; its cutting mouthparts, anesthetic saliva and flight control are miniature marvels: the small example survives any magnification.
