الواقعة
- 56:1
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
Quand l'événement (le Jugement) arrivera,
When the Occurrence occurs,
- 56:2
لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ
nul ne traitera sa venue de mensonge.
There is, at its occurrence, no denial.
- 56:3
خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ
Il abaissera (les uns), il élèvera (les autres).
It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].
- 56:4
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّا
Quand la terre sera secouée violemment,
When the earth is shaken with convulsion
- 56:5
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا
et les montagnes seront réduites en miettes,
And the mountains are broken down, crumbling
- 56:6
فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنۢبَثًّا
et qu'elles deviendront poussière éparpillée
And become dust dispersing.
- 56:7
وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ثَلَٰثَةً
alors vous serez trois catégories:
And you become [of] three kinds:
- 56:8
فَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
les gens de la droite - que sont les gens de la droite?
Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?
- 56:9
وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
Et les gens de la gauche - que sont les gens de la gauche?
And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?
- 56:10
وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ
Les premiers (à suivre les ordres d'Allah sur la terre) ce sont eux qui seront les premiers (dans l'au-delà)
And the forerunners, the forerunners -
- 56:11
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
Ce sont ceux-là les plus rapprochés d'Allah
Those are the ones brought near [to Allah]
- 56:12
فِى جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
dans les Jardins des délices,
In the Gardens of Pleasure,
- 56:13
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
une multitude d'élus parmi les premières [générations],
A [large] company of the former peoples
- 56:14
وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
et un petit nombre parmi les dernières [générations],
And a few of the later peoples,
- 56:15
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ
sur des lits ornés [d'or et de pierreries],
On thrones woven [with ornament],
- 56:16
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ
s'y accoudant et se faisant face.
Reclining on them, facing each other.
- 56:17
يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ
Parmi eux circuleront des garçons éternellement jeunes,
There will circulate among them young boys made eternal
- 56:18
بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ
avec des coupes, des aiguières et un verre [rempli] d'une liqueur de source
With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -
- 56:19
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ
qui ne leur provoquera ni maux de tête ni étourdissement;
No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -
- 56:20
وَفَٰكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ
et des fruits de leur choix,
And fruit of what they select
- 56:21
وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
et toute chair d'oiseau qu'ils désireront.
And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.
- 56:22
وَحُورٌ عِينٌ
Et ils auront des houris aux yeux, grands et beaux,
And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes,
- 56:23
كَأَمْثَٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ
pareilles à des perles en coquille
The likenesses of pearls well-protected,
- 56:24
جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
en récompense pour ce qu'ils faisaient.
As reward for what they used to do.
- 56:25
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا
Ils n'y entendront ni futilité ni blasphème;
They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin -
- 56:26
إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَٰمًا سَلَٰمًا
mais seulement les propos: «Salâm! Salâm!»... [Paix! Paix!]
Only a saying: "Peace, peace."
- 56:27
وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ
Et les gens de la droite; que sont les gens de la droite?
The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?
- 56:28
فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ
[Ils seront parmi] des jujubiers sans épines,
[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed
- 56:29
وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ
et parmi des bananiers aux régimes bien fournis,
And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]
- 56:30
وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ
dans une ombre étendue
And shade extended
- 56:31
وَمَآءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ
[près] d'une eau coulant continuellement,
And water poured out
- 56:32
وَفَٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ
et des fruits abondants
And fruit, abundant [and varied],
- 56:33
لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ
ni interrompus ni défendus,
Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden,
- 56:34
وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ
sur des lits surélevés,
And [upon] beds raised high.
- 56:35
إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً
C'est Nous qui les avons créées à la perfection,
Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation
- 56:36
فَجَعَلْنَٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا
et Nous les avons faites vierges,
And made them virgins,
- 56:37
عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا
gracieuses, toutes de même âge,
Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,
- 56:38
لِّأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
pour les gens de la droite,
For the companions of the right [who are]
- 56:39
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
une multitude d'élus parmi les premières [générations],
A company of the former peoples
- 56:40
وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
et une multitude d'élus parmi les dernières [générations].
And a company of the later peoples.
- 56:41
وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ
Et les gens de la gauche; que sont les gens de la gauche?
And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?
- 56:42
فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ
ils seront au milieu d'un souffle brûlant et d'une eau bouillante,
[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water
- 56:43
وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ
à l'ombre d'une fumée noire
And a shade of black smoke,
- 56:44
لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ
ni fraîche, ni douce.
Neither cool nor beneficial.
- 56:45
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ
Ils vivaient auparavant dans le luxe.
Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,
- 56:46
وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
Ils persistaient dans le grand péché [le polythéisme]
And they used to persist in the great violation,
- 56:47
وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
et disaient: «Quand nous mourrons et serons poussière et ossements, serons-nous ressuscités?
And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
- 56:48
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
ainsi que nos anciens ancêtres?..»
And our forefathers [as well]?"
- 56:49
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
Dis: «En vérité les premiers et les derniers
Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples
- 56:50
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
seront réunis pour le rendez-vous d'un jour connu».
Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."
- 56:51
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ
Et puis, vous, les égarés, qui traitiez (la Résurrection) de mensonge,
Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,
- 56:52
لَءَاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ
vous mangerez certainement d'un arbre de Zaqqûm.
Will be eating from trees of zaqqum
- 56:53
فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
vous vous en remplirez le ventre,
And filling with it your bellies
- 56:54
فَشَٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
puis vous boirez par-dessus cela de l'eau bouillante,
And drinking on top of it from scalding water
- 56:55
فَشَٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ
vous en boirez comme boivent les chameaux assoiffés.
And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.
- 56:56
هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
Voilà le repas d'accueil qui leur sera servi, au jour de la Rétribution.
That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.
- 56:57
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ
C'est Nous qui vous avons créés. Pourquoi ne croiriez-vous donc pas [à la résurrection]?
We have created you, so why do you not believe?
- 56:58
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ
Voyez-vous donc ce que vous éjaculez:
Have you seen that which you emit?
- 56:59
ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ
est-ce vous qui le créez ou [en] sommes Nous le Créateur?
Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?
- 56:60
نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
Nous avons prédéterminé la mort parmi vous. Nous ne serons point empêchés
We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone
- 56:61
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
de vous remplacer par vos semblables, et vous faire renaître dans [un état] que vous ne savez pas.
In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.
- 56:62
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Vous avez connu la première création. Ne vous rappelez-vous donc pas?
And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?
- 56:63
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ
Voyez-vous donc ce que vous labourez?
And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?
- 56:64
ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ
Est-ce vous qui le cultivez? ou [en] sommes Nous le cultivateur?
Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?
- 56:65
لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَٰهُ حُطَٰمًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ
Si Nous voulions, Nous le réduirions en débris. Et vous ne cesseriez pas de vous étonner et [de crier]:
If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,
- 56:66
إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ
«Nous voilà endettés!
[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;
- 56:67
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
ou plutôt, exposés aux privations».
Rather, we have been deprived."
- 56:68
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ
Voyez-vous donc l'eau que vous buvez?
And have you seen the water that you drink?
- 56:69
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ
Est-ce vous qui l'avez fait descendre du nuage? ou [en] sommes Nous le descendeur?
Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?
- 56:70
لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَٰهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ
Si Nous voulions, Nous la rendrions salée. Pourquoi n'êtes-vous donc pas reconnaissants?
If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?
- 56:71
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ
Voyez-vous donc le feu que vous obtenez par frottement?
And have you seen the fire that you ignite?
- 56:72
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ
Est-ce vous qui avez créé son arbre ou [en] sommes Nous le Créateur?
Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?
- 56:73
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَٰهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَٰعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ
Nous en avons fait un rappel (de l'Enfer), et un élément utile pour ceux qui en ont besoin.
We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,
- 56:74
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
Glorifie donc le nom de ton Seigneur, le Très Grand!
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
- 56:75
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ
Non!.. Je jure par les positions des étoiles (dans le firmament).
Then I swear by the setting of the stars,
- 56:76
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ
Et c'est vraiment un serment solennel, si vous saviez.
And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.
- 56:77
إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌ كَرِيمٌ
Et c'est certainement un Coran noble,
Indeed, it is a noble Qur'an
- 56:78
فِى كِتَٰبٍ مَّكْنُونٍ
dans un Livre bien gardé
In a Register well-protected;
- 56:79
لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ
que seuls les purifiés touchent;
None touch it except the purified.
- 56:80
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
C'est une révélation de la part du Seigneur de l'Univers.
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.
- 56:81
أَفَبِهَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ
Est-ce ce discours-là que vous traitez de mensonge?
Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent
- 56:82
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Et est-ce pour vous [une façon d'être reconnaissant] à votre subsistance que de traiter (le Coran) de mensonge?
And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?
- 56:83
فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ
Lorsque le souffle de la vie remonte à la gorge (d'un moribond),
Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat
- 56:84
وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ
et qu'à ce moment là vous regardez,
And you are at that time looking on -
- 56:85
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ
et que Nous sommes plus proche de lui que vous [qui l'entourez] mais vous ne [le] voyez point.
And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -
- 56:86
فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ
Pourquoi donc, si vous croyez que vous n'avez pas de compte à rendre,
Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,
- 56:87
تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
ne la faites-vous pas revenir [cette âme], si vous êtes véridiques?
Bring it back, if you should be truthful?
- 56:88
فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
Si celui-ci est du nombre des rapprochés (d'Allah),
And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah,
- 56:89
فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ
alors (il aura) du repos, de la grâce et un Jardin de délices.
Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.
- 56:90
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
Et s'il est du nombre des gens de la droite,
And if he was of the companions of the right,
- 56:91
فَسَلَٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
il sera [accueilli par ces mots]: «Paix à toi» de la part des gens de la droite.
Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."
- 56:92
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
Et s'il est de ceux qui avaient traité de mensonge (la résurrection) et s'étaient égarés,
But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,
- 56:93
فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
alors, il sera installé dans une eau bouillante,
Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water
- 56:94
وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ
et il brûlera dans la Fournaise.
And burning in Hellfire
- 56:95
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
C'est cela la pleine certitude.
Indeed, this is the true certainty,
- 56:96
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
Glorifie donc le nom de ton Seigneur, le Très Grand!
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
